QESBA welcomes Bill 144 as a measure to provide access to education
MONTREAL, June 9, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA) is pleased with the deposit of Bill 144 today in the National Assembly.
The Bill focuses on provisions for home-schooled students, students without proper documentation, and illegal schools. These have been areas of concern in the English public school network as we continue to support these students in families.
"Bill 144 ensures accessibility to education for all children aged between 6 to 16. Given the success of every student is our primary mission, we agree there must be a balance between religion, the rights of the child, and the role of education," said QESBA President, Jennifer Maccarone.
"We look forward to analyzing the bill in detail and to presenting our formal position during the parliamentary commission this fall," concluded the President.
QESBA is the voice of English public education in Quebec.
