Quality and professionalism recognized at annual awards
GREATER TORONTO, March 13, 2015 /CNW/ - The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) recognized the best of the home renovation and custom-home building industry today at the annual Renovation and Custom Home Awards.
Cohn Construction Ltd. was presented with the prestigious Renovator of the Year award, bestowed upon the company which sets the standard for the rest of the sector in their leadership and commitment to customer service, as well as contributing to the overall image of the renovation industry.
"Frank Cohn has been an industry champion for many years and it was a privilege to bestow this prestigious award to his company," said BILD vice-president of membership and RenoMark program manager, Helen Batista. "His company's commitment to promoting the national RenoMark program and hiring professional renovators has been a great service for our members and the industry as a whole."
RS Homes was awarded Best Renovation Under $75,000 for the exterior remodeling of a 1960s home. The changes are so profound, guests are asking the homeowners if they built new.
Best Renovation $75,000 to $150,000 was presented to W.C. Meek Design and Construction Ltd. The company renovated an outdated and dysfunctional master bathroom, turning it into a five-piece bath with spa-like features.
Belyea Bros. Ltd. took home the Best Renovation $150,000 to $300,000 award for its work on an east-end Toronto loft. The homeowner can now show off a modern suite, complete with a brand new kitchen and plenty of storage space.
The award for Best Renovation $300,000 to $500,000 was picked up by Men at Work General Contractors Ltd. which put in a small one-storey addition, performed some structural, changed the basements stairs and added a new cabinet layout to completely transform an outdated 1980s design into a modern, practical space.
Men at Work also won the Best Renovation Over $500,000 award. The company almost entirely rebuilt an existing house to reshape it into a unique, contemporary family home that's bound to attract some attention.
The Best Condominium Renovation was awarded to Carick Home Improvements for turning an old and tired condo into an open, airy, contemporary space. By opening up the walls in the kitchen and raising the ceilings, the home is now larger and the space a lot more functional.
