major events expected to generate spinoffs of nearly $85 million for Montréal
MONTREAL, July 29 /CNW Telbec/ - For the previous quarter ending June 30, 2010, the Société du Palais des congrès de Montréal has confirmed it has secured eight new international(1) conventions and four national(2) conventions. These major events represent economic spinoffs for Montréal estimated at nearly $85M. Secured primarily with the cooperation of the Société's long-standing partner Tourisme Montréal, the conventions will result in more than 57,519 room nights being booked in hotels across the city.
"The results for this year's first quarter are excellent news for Montréal and the province of Québec, but also for the Palais, since they coincide with the implementation of our new strategic plan," notes Mr. Marc Tremblay, Chief Executive Officer of the Palais. "These impressive figures confirm that Montréal deserves its position as North America's No. 1 host city for international associative events(3)," adds Mr. Tremblay.
