MONTREAL, Jan. 19, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Real estate giant Broccolini has just got its hands on a site of more than 135,000 sq. ft., the largest space still available for development in downtown Montreal, at the cost of $100 million. Bordered by Robert-Bourassa Boulevard and Saint-Jacques, Notre-Dame and Gauvin streets, this location at the junction between downtown and Old Montreal is intended to accommodate office spaces, as well as residential and commercial units.
This is another advance by Broccolini into Montreal's Quartier International, as the company is set to launch the construction of a 35-storey residential tower, the 628 Saint-Jacques, in the heart of Square Victoria. Construction of this $150 million project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2018 and wrap up in the summer of 2021.
These projects add to the roster of other large-scale projects being built by Broccolini in the heart of Montreal, including the acclaimed L/Avenue project located opposite the Bell Centre, whose 50 storeys make it the tallest mixed-use residential tower in the city. Broccolini is also the builder and owner of the new Maison de Radio-Canada, located on the corner of René-Lévesque Boulevard and Papineau Street. The construction of this new media complex is already underway, and the inauguration is slated for 2020.
In addition to its exceptional and easily accessible location, this new development will be situated near prestigious landmarks such as the Tour de la Bourse and Square Victoria. It will occupy the last available space on Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, facing the Dendrites art installation (Michel de Broin) and the new redesigned entrance to Montreal. Broccolini's directors intend to contact the City of Montreal in the coming days in order to share their vision for the future of this site, which includes ther the development of up to 1.5M sq. ft. of mixed-use space.
