MONTRÉAL, March 10, 2023 /CNW/ - Ten co-workers at the Fondrémy foundry in Chambly won $2,000,000 with a Québec 49 Formule groupe ticket purchased for the February 25 draw. The mood was electric when the 10 Montérégie residents, who each won $200,000, came to Loto-Québec to claim their prize!
"We'd only been playing the lottery as a group for a month!" said Matthieu Côté. Since he'd forgotten to buy the tickets locally, he purchased on the road while out of town. When he checked the tickets on Sunday morning, he realized the group had won $2,000,000. He immediately called his co-worker Patrick Bélanger to share the good news.
He then called the other group members, one by one. Some cried out for joy, while others were unable to sleep that night. Two co-workers even said they didn't believe they'd actually won until they got the confirmation on Monday morning.
The winners are:
- Patrick Bélanger
- Martin Blackburn
- Matthieu Côté
- Michel Courchesnes
- Sylvain D'Amours
- Carlos Lopes
- Joseph Lopez
- Denis Morin
- Sylvie Ouimet
- Josée Séguin
Vacations, renovations and making investments are among some of the plans mentioned by the lucky winners. When asked whether they would keep playing the lottery, the group instantly replied in unison: "Absolutely! We've already bought tickets for the upcoming draws."
The winning ticket was bought at Shell Voisin on Rue Principale, in Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $20,000.
