QUÉBEC CITY, July 21, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Québec City Tourism director André Roy travelled to New York City yesterday to receive top honours on behalf of Québec City as Travel + Leisure readers' choice of best city in Canada 2016. This year Québec City and area edged out Vancouver, Victoria, Montréal, and Toronto, which are all in the top five.
According to Travel + Leisure, "Québec City has a Parisian feel, with its narrow, cobblestone streets and European-influenced architecture. It's been on the World's Best Cities list for more than a decade, thanks in part to its friendly locals who don't laugh at tourists' attempts to resurrect their high school French."
"It's a real honour to receive this distinction in New York City," said André Roy. "Although we've often been in the top 10 on this prestigious list, being named the best destination in Canada is really gratifying. I wanted to come in person to congratulate the other winners and meet people in the industry from around the world. Travel + Leisure has an outstanding reputation internationally. Everyone involved in Québec City and area's tourism industry should be proud of this distinction. The warm welcome Quebecers offer tourists is one of our great strengths as a destination."
With an estimated 5 million readers, Travel + Leisure is a leading publication for travelers and tourism industry professionals around the world.
