QUÉBEC GOVERNMENT RECEIVES THE CANADIAN INSTITUTE OF PLANNERS VISION IN
PLANNING AWARD
MONTREAL, Oct 1 /CNW/ - The Government of Québec is the proud 2010 recipient of the "Vision in Planning (ViP) Award" from the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) for its "Stratégie gouvernementale de développement durable 2008-2013". The award will be presented to Jean Charest, Premier of Quebec at a special luncheon during the CIP annual conference Climate Change + Communities: A Call to Action, held at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal on October 4, 2010.
Traditionally presented to the city or province that hosts the annual conference, CIP established its Vision in Planning Award to recognize and highlight successful plans of a historical nature that have been thoroughly implemented and have demonstrably improved the quality of life for a Canadian community. However, this year CIP has taken the award in a new direction, choosing a project that is tied closely to this year's conference theme, and already shows the potential to leave a legacy of social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
The "Stratégie gouvernementale de développement durable 2008-2013" was honoured as the 2010 recipient in recognition of its commitment to the urban, rural, and indigenous communities in Quebec and its pledge to sustainable development.
CIP President Marni Cappe, MCIP, RPP will present the ViP Award to Mr. Charest.
