Quebecor Fund announces list of funded producers and distributors under its Film Production Assistance Program Français
MONTRÉAL, Feb. 26, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Following January 29, 2019 submissions, the Quebecor Fund Board of Directors has announced the names of the production companies and distributors whose projects will receive funding in the 17th round of the Film Production Assistance Program. The selected producers and distributors will share a total of $920,000. The four successful projects will be produced and distributed by the following Canadian companies: Félix et le trésor de Morgäa inc. (Productions 10e Ave inc.), Productions Sons of Manual inc., Amalga Créations Médias inc., Productions du Milieu inc. and Les Productions Orange Films inc., Maison 4:3 inc., Attraction Distribution inc. and Studio 10e Ave inc., Les Films Séville inc., and Orange Médias inc.
Quebecor Fund's Film Production Assistance Program seeks to capture synergies among all industry stakeholders in order to:
- support the production of Canadian French-language feature films;
- support multiplatform exploitation of feature films and, in particular, promote integrated marketing strategies with an interactive component, starting at the development stage;
- enable the creative / production team to produce a work as close to their original creative vision as possible;
- help recipients realize a return on investment in order to increase the Fund's impact.
Since it was launched in September 2010, Quebecor Fund's Film Production Assistance Program (originally known as the Event and Film Production Assistance Program) has granted 68 film projects and 14 event projects financial assistance totalling more than $12.8 million.

Félix et le trésor de Morgäa

Twelve-year-old Félix is convinced that his father, lost at sea two years ago, is still alive. He sets off to look for him with veteran seaman Tom, Quack the one-legged pickpocket parrot, and Ulysse, the cat who thinks he's a dog. Their journey takes them to the Island of Eternal Night and an underground city where the power-mad ruler Morgäa leads a secret society and hoards her treasure.
Matthias et Maxime

A feature film from director Xavier Dolan about two childhood friends, Matt and Max, now in their late 20s. At a bon voyage party for Max, who is about to leave on a 2-year trip, a guest gets the reluctant friends to perform in her amateur film. Little do they know that they will have to kiss. Afterwards, that kiss will sow seeds of doubt in their minds and gradually gnaw away at them, forcing them to confront their choices and preferences, threatening their friendship and throwing their lives into turmoil.
Merci pour tout

Things have been tense between sisters Marianne and Christine Cyr for a while when they receive news of their swindler father's death. Merci pour tout is a comedy and road movie about their trip to the Magdalen Islands to spread their father's ashes and escape their problems. But they will find they have brought their problems with them, figuratively and literally.
Mr. Freeze et Allumette

The first feature from award-winning Franco-Ontarian director Martin Cadotte is a family film about the adventures of a group of kids looking for a lost dog during the ice storm of 1998.
Quebecor Fund
Quebecor Fund was established with funding from Videotron Ltd., which provides over $7 million annually in broadcasting distribution undertaking (BDU) contributions to the Canadian industry. Its mission is to support the development, production, marketing and export of high-quality content and its exploitation on various platforms. To date, Quebecor Fund's programs have paid out a total of more than $102 million.
The Board of Directors is responsible for all decisions pertaining to the Fund, including its priorities, and is entirely and exclusively responsible for its funding decisions. The next deadline for applications for funding under the Film Production Assistance Program will be in late May 2019. The exact date will be posted on the website.
