Centre to celebrate its 50 millionth visitor since opening in 1969
TORONTO, June 29, 2015 /CNW/ - At long last, summer is here! Quench your thirst for science this summer with a visit to the Ontario Science Centre. From uncovering the truth behind myths in MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition to testing your athleticism in our Sports Science Arena, and from gliding down a tree trunk slide in the Cohon Family Nature Escape to getting close to humpback whales without getting wet with the IMAX® film Humpback Whales, there is something for all ages, tastes and interests.
"Summer at the Ontario Science Centre offers plenty of choice: applying the scientific method to everyday myths in MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition, learning about the properties different materials with What's the Matter? and discovering the flora and fauna of the Don Valley walking through the Cohon Family Nature Escape," said Dr. Maurice Bitran, CEO of the Ontario Science Centre. "This summer we will welcome our 50 millionth visitor. Imagine that! Nearly twice the population of Canada has been through our doors. Come to the Science Centre this summer; you could be our 50 millionth visitor and win a prize!"
To ensure visitors make the most of long summer days, the Ontario Science Centre's summer hours will be in effect from June 27 through September 7. The Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, weekends and holidays, and until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Proud to Host the Pan Am Flame on July 6, 2015
The Science Centre is proud to host the Pan Am Flame on July 6, 2015. To celebrate the torch relay stopping here, the Ontario Science Centre will host a free Torch Relay Celebration in TELUSCAPE (outside the main entrance). TO2015 torchbearers will be onsite, including Marissa Papaconstantinou, who inspired the 21st Century Bionics exhibit in The AstraZeneca Human Edge exhibit hall.
Special Summer Program: Sports Science Arena
Enter the Sports Science Arena, where you can test your skills in aerodynamics and trajectory, ball physics and teamwork while getting hands-on with some of your favourite summer sports. High-octane activity areas will push your strength, endurance, aim, reflexes and flexibility to the limit.

New Outdoor Experience: Cohon Family Nature Escape
The Cohon Family Nature Escape, a new outdoor experience, offers four acres of outdoor space in the heart of the Don Valley and adjacent forest. The Nature Escape boasts 195 metres (640 feet) of trails that include a living moss wall, rustic pergola, tree trunk slide, gigantic nest house and an exhibit paying tribute to the Maple Leaf Forever tree.
