"Women in Policing" Career Presentation
TORONTO, Sept. 9, 2014 /CNW/ - This year marks the 40th anniversary of the RCMP's first women officers. In celebration, Ontario RCMP Recruiting will be hosting three "Women in Policing" career presentations across the province. These presentations will be taking place at the Toronto, Ottawa, and London RCMP Detachments at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 16th.
A 32-member female troop began training on September 16, 1974 and forged the path that has led to nearly 4,000 female police officers today, which is just over 20% of the sworn ranks. The RCMP is committed to increasing that to 30% by 2025.
During the "Women in Policing" presentation, you will learn about the 150 different types of policing opportunities within the RCMP and hear from women who've donned the RCMP uniform. A female recruiting officer will also outline the recruiting process step-by-step, provide advice, and answer questions.
