MONTREAL
,
Jan. 24
/CNW Telbec/ - The 42nd Edition of the
Montreal
International Auto Show (MIAS) has officially closed its doors after welcoming 188 270 visitors over a period of ten (10) days, between
January 15
and 24, 2010. Based on preliminary results from a survey conducted by Léger Marketing, no less than 90 % of visitors reported they appreciated their experience at this year's event and 72 % said they will return next year.
As far as the special attractions were concerned, Auto Hebdo presented three (3) attractions that charmed visitors: Microcars, an exhibit of the smallest cars on earth;
Quebec
Creations, an exhibit featuring cars made in
Quebec
; and 1930's Classic Cars, supplied by
John Scotti
Auto, a private collection from the "swing" years. Also, visitors had the chance to try incredible race car simulators in the AUTO123.COM Interactive Zone.
On Route to the Future, presented in collaboration with Natural Resources
Canada
for a 6th consecutive year, was the perfect place to learn all about new innovations of various new green technologies being offered today. Also, the 7th Heaven presented breathtaking vehicles for the pleasure of the eyes and to excite the imagination of car lovers everywhere.
Extremely pleased with the outcome of this year's Edition, Auto Show President,
Mrs. Carole Leblanc
, proudly commented "the significance and the impact of our special attractions remain as important this year as ever. Indeed, this year's attractions were particularly impressive in their originality and diversity!"
This year, three (3) days were devoted to a special cause. For each visitor who was wearing pink,
$2
were given to the
Quebec
Breast Cancer Foundation (QBCF). This resulted in a
$ 5,300
donation from the Auto Show. Adding to that all the donations from our generous visitors, the QBCF received
$8,337
. A very positive first experience for the Pink Days.
For the 26th annual blood donor clinic, the numbers speak for themselves. As many as 713 generous souls stopped by to give their precious gift of life. The Auto Show is always glad to be associated with Héma-Québec and CTV
Montreal
for this event to extend its deepest thanks to all donors, as well as to everyone who has contributed to the phenomenal success of this year's blood drive and helped save lives.
Also, in keeping with its previous editions, the 2010 MIAS Charity Preview, whose spokesperson this year was once again actor
Raymond Bouchard
, was another tremendous success as over 3,100 guests attended the special evening. The event helped organizers raise
$361,120
to benefit five (5) worthy causes within the Greater Montreal's medical community: Fondation du CHUM, Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation, MUHC - McGill University Health Centre Foundation, Pierre-Boucher Hospital Foundation and Santa Cabrini Hospital Foundation. Since it premiered back in January of 2005, the event has managed to raise close to
$2 million
for various foundations of the Greater Montreal's health care community; an achievement of which the automotive industry is extremely proud!
