"It's time for a new vision for Ontario's post-secondary education system. An All-Party Select Committee would establish important groundwork for ensuring students receive the accessible, affordable, quality education they deserve," said OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas.
The proposal for an all-party select committee is a key recommendation of a new report by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) on the future of post-secondary education in Ontario. The Report highlights the long-term effects on the education system of chronic underfunding, privatization, under-staffing, attacks on faculty academic freedom and increased student debt.
The proposal is supported by post-secondary education unions and organizations from across the province, including OPSEU, OCUFA and CFS-Ontario.
