TORONTO, April 21, 2017 /CNW/ - On Sunday, April 30 Cadillac Fairview (CF) will host its annual charity CF Run/Walk in support of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO). For the third consecutive year, 100 per cent of funds raised will benefit SickKids and POGO as they look to further advance cancer care and research for children.
"Now in its 13th year, we are continually blown away by the support this Run receives from our valued partners and the local community," said John Knechtel, Vice-President, Leasing and CF Run/Walk Event Chair. "Their support and generous donations are helping CF fulfill our corporate beliefs in supporting the communities we reside in."
In the last six years, the CF Run/Walk has raised over $1.5 million in funds, with last year's 650 participants contributing more than $300,000 to the causes.
"We are truly humbled by the support this community, Cadillac Fairview, SickKids and POGO have shown for this important cause," said Mark Thompson, father of SickKids and POGO patient, Henry Thompson. "It's events like the CF Run/Walk that help families like ours stay strong, positive, and focused on the future."
The traffic-free CF 1K Kids Run/Walk and the CF 5K Run/Walk will start and finish at CF Shops at Don Mills' Town Square, where participants will be immersed in fashion, dining and entertainment before and after the Run/Walk. The CF 1K Kids Run/Walk is open to youth 12 years and younger, and begins at 9:30 a.m. The CF Adult 5K Run/Walk begins at 10:00 a.m. and is open to those 13 years and over.
