/R E P E A T -- Canada AM to broadcast live from Montréal on June 6 & 7 - A unique opportunity to showcase Montréal to the rest of Canada/ Français
MONTREAL, June 5, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - On June 6 and 7, Montréal will transform itself into a city-wide television set to host the country's most-watched morning TV show: Canada AM. Thanks to an initiative by Tourisme Montréal, in collaboration with Tourisme Québec, this CTV daily show, a morning television ritual in millions of homes across Canada, represents a fabulous channel to showcase Montréal as a tourist destination to its many viewers. The objective: to entice Canadians from across the country to stay in Montréal during their holidays.
In 2012, Montréal welcomed 8.4 million visitors, 77% of whom were from Québec and the rest of Canada. As such, the Canadian market remains a remarkably important segment for the growth and success of Montréal's tourist industry.
"Montréal in the summer is absolutely captivating! Once the weather turns fine, the city of festivals pulls out all the stops and literally buzzes with activity. With this Canada AM broadcast, we hope to share this festive experience with Canadians across the country," highlights the Honourable Charles Lapointe, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tourisme Montréal.
As such, on June 6, Canada AM will showcase the city's incredible culinary and fashion scene as well as Montréal's numerous festivals. Program hosts will be on the Place des Arts esplanade from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Fashion icon Jeanne Beker will lead fellow host Marci len on a Montréal shopping spree. As for co-host Beverly Thomson, she will get a glimpse of what this year's Montréal International Jazz Fest and Just For Laughs festivals have in store. Food trucks will be on-site and performances by the circus troupe, Les 7 doigts de la main and the pop group, 98 degrees (in concert at the Bell Centre later that evening) will also be on the program.
Audience members will have the chance to win fabulous prizes. In fact, each participant will be entered into a draw to win tickets to the 98 degrees concert as well as for the chance to win an all-new 2013 Chevrolet Spark 2LT. Simply be on location between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. to participate.
The fun continues on June 7, when Jeff Hutcheson heads over to Place Jacques Cartier in Old Montréal for an exclusive performance by singer Gregory Charles, who has no less than 20,000 songs in his repertoire. What's more, Canada's favourite weatherman will go behind the scenes at the legendary Schwartz's Deli, a veritable Montréal smoked meat institution, and will tour the Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal.
Two Québec tourist regions will also be featured during this show, namely the Eastern Townships and the Laurentians. Hosts of major events, these two regions are popular resort destinations for Canadian tourists.
The public is invited to support this operation to win over their fellow Canadians by participating in the two-day shoot or by sharing their favourite city spots and photos with the hashtag #AMinMTL.
A weekend trip to Montréal, offered by Tourisme Montréal and Air Canada, will be drawn from among Canada AM viewers on June 16, 2013.
Tourisme Montréal would like to thank its partner, Tourisme Québec, without whose implication the Canada AM broadcast in Montréal would not have been possible.
