/R E P E A T -- Complete Night Closures on the Jacques Cartier Bridge from 1 AM to 4 AM Fifteen Times from February to June/

LONGUEUIL, QC, Feb. 16, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to inform motorists of complete closures on the Jacques Cartier Bridge at night from 1 AM to 4 AM fifteen times from February to June, in order to replace 12 bearing devices.

The work will be taking place underneath the bridge and will require complete closures in order to avoid overloads caused by vehicles. The goal is to slightly lift a section of the deck using powerful jacks and to replace the bearing devices. Nearly 336 tonnes (740,000 pounds) will be lifted during each of these major manoeuvres, which will be taking place late at night, in order to limit disturbances for road users.

The first complete closures on the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be taking place as follows:

• In the night of Sunday, February 19 to Monday, February 20 (1 AM to 4 AM);
• In the night of Tuesday, February 21 to Wednesday, February 22 (1 AM to 4 AM);
• In the night of Thursday, February 23 to Friday, February 24 (1 AM to 4 AM).

ROAD WORK ON THE BONAVENTURE EXPRESSWAY DURING THE DAY

We would also like to inform road users that repair work on the pavement of the Bonaventure Expressway will take place starting Saturday, February 18 at 5 AM until Sunday, February 19 at 3 PM. This roadwork will require the closure of one out of three lanes towards the Champlain Bridge at Exit 2 for approximately 200 meters.

Please note that these closures could be rescheduled due to weather conditions and progress of the work.
