OTTAWA, Sept. 29, 2015 /CNW/ - The Conference Board of Canada is available to speak to the media on Canada's ranking in The Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016 released today by the World Economic Forum. The Conference Board of Canada is the Canadian Partner Institute for the World Economic Forum's Centre for Global Competitiveness and Benchmarking Network, which produces the annual ranking.
Highlights:
- Canada saw moderate improvement this year on the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Index. Canada ranks 13th, up two places from last year, and reversing the downward trend that has characterized its performance in recent years.
- Canada saw notable change in three areas this year, moving up 12 points on the macroeconomic environment pillar, and moving up four points in the areas of financial market development and technological readiness.
- Both innovation and business sophistication remain competitive weaknesses for Canada.
