/R E P E A T -- "Covert Affairs" Star Christopher Gorham receives Special Achievement Award from CNIB for battling vision loss stereotypes/
TORONTO, Sept. 5, 2013 /CNW/ - CNIB would like to recognize the important impact hit show Covert Affairs and cast member Christopher Gorham have had in increasing awareness of and battling stereotypes around blindness and vision loss, by presenting them with CNIB's Seeing Beyond Vision Loss Special Achievement Award. Gorham plays special operations agent Auggie Anderson, who is blind. Gorham has taken responsibility to ensure that he is accurately and positively portraying the character, receiving training with CNIB specialists and reaching out to the blind community to ensure authenticity in his performance.
The event will include a brief award presentation, followed by interview opportunities with Gorham, lawyer and disability rights advocate David Lepofsky (himself blind), and CNIB President and CEO John M. Rafferty.
