/R E P E A T -- DPRTC-14-005 - Honoré-Mercier Bridge: Closure of both Westbound Lanes (to the South Shore)/ Français
CHÂTEAUGUAY, QC, March 17, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The ministère des Transports du Québec wishes to inform road users that adding to hindrances previously announced, both westbound lanes of the Honoré-Mercier Bridge (to the South Shore) will be closed to traffic between Friday, March 21st, 10 PM and Monday, March 24th , 5 AM.
Closures will be effective on following dates:
- From Friday, March 21st, 10 PM, to Monday, March 24th, 5 AM;
- From Friday, March 28th, 10 PM, to Monday, March 31st, 5 AM;
- From Friday, April 11th, 10 PM, to Monday, April 14th, 5 AM;
- From Friday, April 18th, 10 PM, to Monday, April 21st, 5 AM.
These lane closures are required for repair work of the structural elements, under the bridge.
For the moment, only both eastbound lanes (towards Montreal) will remain opened to traffic.
This one way configuration will ensure road users safety in case of bad weather and will facilitate snow removal and de-icing operations that might be required during winter season. Indeed, these operations can not be properly performed with contraflow traffic, because the width of the lanes is not adequate and safe for snow removal vehicles.
According to those circumstances, the most optimal and secure configuration for upcoming lane closures is the one mentioned above. The Ministère is aware of the impacts caused to traffic and thanks all road users and its partners for their comprehension.
These interventions might be postponed or shortened due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression. The traffic management might also be revised along the way.
Other lane closures might be necessary for such work in the coming weeks.
