passed the mark of one million recommendations reports!/

MONTREAL , Sept. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Hydro-Québec is proud to announce that to date, more than one million personalized recommendations reports have been issued as part of their ENERGY WISE Home Diagnostic campaign.

Launched by Hydro-Québec in 2003 following their global energy efficiency plan, the ENERGY WISE Home Diagnostic is an energy evaluation tool for homes and their appliances. It consists of a free personalized recommendations report issued by Hydro-Québec based on the answers to a questionnaire filled out by eligible customers.

This questionnaire is used to find out the breakdown of electricity costs according to use (lighting, heating, laundry, cooking, etc.). The report recommends concrete measures, adapted to each situation, to encourage households to reduce energy consumption without compromising comfort. The recommendations provide, among other things, an estimate (in dollars and kilowatt-hours) of attainable energy savings by household, a cost estimate of any work required, and the time it would take to see a return on investment.

The campaign was launched successively in each of Quebec's administrative regions in order to establish real collaboration between municipalities. Up to now, more than 600 communities have participated and close to $6,000,000 have been contributed by Hydro-Québec towards more than 700 projects. More than 1,000 volunteers from community organizations were trained in the field to help Quebecers fill out their Home Diagnostic questionnaire.

As part of this campaign, Hydro-Québec provides financial support towards community projects. The amount given to a project is determined by the number of recommendations reports issued by Hydro-Québec to citizens who participate in the campaign.
