/R E P E A T -- Event Advisory - Researchers advising annual skin exams for
those at risk for skin cancer to host fully-booked skin cancer screening,
Vancouver, October 27, 2010/
VANCOUVER, Oct. 25 /CNW/ - Vancouver researchers, whose new study shows annual skin exams benefit those at risk for skin cancer, will host a fully-booked public skin cancer screening at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre on Wednesday October 27, 2010, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Local dermatologists, Dr. Jason Rivers, BC director of the Canadian Dermatology Association's Sun Awareness Program and Dr. Shannon Humphrey of UBC's Division of Dermatology, found people at increased risk developed skin cancer at 12 times the rate of those with no risk factors. The study looked at 753 Vancouver patients over a ten year period.
Both study authors will be screening for skin cancer at the free public clinic on October 27, 2010.
