A new survey reveals one in every 10 Canadian adults diagnosed with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease also has a thyroid disorder. This is three times the prevalence rate for thyroid disease in the general population. One in every four Canadian adults avoids gluten for various reasons and one in every 10 said they feel better when they avoid gluten, even though they have not been diagnosed with gluten sensitivity. More than 2.5 million Canadian adults have been diagnosed with a thyroid disorder, making it one of the most prevalent glandular disorders in Canada.
