/R E P E A T -- Gospel Fever in Old Montreal: Music to Warm the Soul!/
MONTREAL, Jan. 6, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - In the depths of the Montreal winter, irresistible gospel tunes fill Montreal's oldest stone chapel. Launched in 2003, the Gospel Fever festival has since thrilled and delighted audiences seeking authenticity and hope.
Gospel concerts and recordings first spread this style of music outside the Black congregations where it was born. During the 20th century, gospel and Negro spirituals gave birth to the blues, rhythm and blues, and soul. So it's only natural to have blues giant Bob Walsh kick off the 2016 Gospel Fever festival.
This year will also feature two well-loved groups for the first time: the Vivienne Deane Gospel Ensemble and the Imani Gospel Singers. And of course the ever-popular Montreal Gospel Choir will be back. Gospel songs bring messages of freedom and hope, keeping you warm in Old Montreal during the Montreal Lights Festival.
