/R E P E A T -- Highway 15: Resumption of Major work at L'Île-des-Sœurs
Bridge over the upcoming weekend/
LONGUEUIL, QC, Sept. 29 /CNW Telbec/ -The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce resumption of important lane closures at L'Île-des-Sœurs (Highway 15 North and South) over the upcoming weekend, where one lane will be open in each direction from Friday, October 1st at midnight to Sunday, October 3rd at noon. Note that one northbound lane out of three will close at 9 PM and one southbound lane at 10 PM.
Remember that the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge connects Highway 15 (North and South) to the Champlain Bridge. During these closures, access to the Champlain Bridge via the Bonaventure Expressway remains available. Exit 58 will also go directly to the Bonaventure Expressway from the Champlain Bridge and heads north to avoid the construction zone. Note that there will not be any construction on the Bonaventure Expressway over the course of the weekend, nor on the Jacques Cartier and Honoré Mercier Bridges, which are also good options for avoiding the Champlain Bridge area.
Alternatives and detours - October 1st to 3rd
Towards the South Shore, motorists are invited to use the Victoria Bridge starting at the Atwater exit or the Bonaventure Expressway towards the Champlain Bridge. Exceptionally, the two southbound lanes of the Victoria Bridge will be open on Saturday, October 2 from 10 AM to 8 PM, to alleviate the work on the southbound part of L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge.
Towards Montreal, motorists are invited to use Exit 58 from Highway 15 North to make a detour via the Bonaventure Expressway, exit at Avenue Pierre-Dupuy (Exit 2) where motorists can retrace their steps on the Bonaventure Expressway and proceed to Highway 15 North via Exit 4, and thus avoid the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge.
For residents of L'Île-des-Sœurs, Exit 5 of the Bonaventure Expressway will be specially opened this weekend, to offer direct access to the Island by the Bonaventure Expressway, since access by Exit 4 and Gaétan Laberge Boulevard will be closed. Note that Exit 5 will be prohibited to trucks. Motorist will also be able to access the Island by taking the Exit 57 from Highway 15 North. It is recommended that residents of the Island use Highway 15 South or the Bonaventure Expressway to exit the Island over the weekend.
This work allows for the reparation of concrete deck panels and expansion joints on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge, as well as paving on the main viaduct and on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge.
Remember that this work on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge will continue next weekend from Friday, October 8, midnight, to Sunday, October 10, noon. All the details will be provided at the start of next week.
