The 10th Annual Toronto Polar Bear Dip aims to raise $60K this New Year's Day to help bring affordable homeownership to more low-income families
TORONTO, Dec. 22, 2014 /CNW/ - Over 500 brave participants will once again dive into the icy waters of Lake Ontario at the 10th annual Toronto Polar Bear Dip at Sunnyside Beach on Thursday, January 1, 2015. Hosted by the Toronto Polar Bear Club, this exciting event will raise money to build safe and decent Habitat homes with low-income Toronto families.
"This year, we are daring GTA residents to make a bold statement for the cause of affordable homeownership and to challenge their friends and family to do the same," says Ene Underwood, CEO of Habitat for Humanity. "When you dare to dip, not only are you ensuring that you have great story to tell when you return to work after the holidays, you are making a difference in the lives of hardworking, low income families in the GTA."
Since 2005 the Toronto Polar Bear Dip has raised nearly $200,000 for Habitat for Humanity GTA—funds that have gone directly towards building more Habitat homes for GTA families in need. This year's fundraising goal is $60,000.
Join Habitat for Humanity GTA and the Toronto Polar Bear Club in this cold but charitable way to ring in the New Year.
