MONTRÉAL, June 1, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Moving season is just around the corner and Hydro-Québec is taking steps to simplify the process for its customers. As such, until September 30, address changes will be free if they are reported online, and call centres will be open on July 1.
"These changes are designed to help customers save time and avoid certain moving-related expenses. They'll be combined with a number of other measures, such as online self-service options and extended business hours for call centres, which will help us better meet our customers' needs in terms of accessibility and flexibility," noted Éric Filion, Vice President – Customers.
Address changes represent approximately 850,000 transactions per year at Hydro-Québec, including 430,000 in the summer months. "Our call centres will be open on July 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., which means that the 68,000 people who move that day will be able to make sure their new home has electricity if they haven't previously notified us of their move," added Mr. Filion.
Online address changes: they're quick to do, and they're free until September 30!
Since April 11, 2016, changing an address or becoming a customer online will mean avoiding a long wait on the phone and saving on administration and new file charges, namely $20 and $50, respectively. Customers can go to www.hydroquebec.com/residential/customer-space/moving/ to inform us of their address change.
Customers must notify us of their moving-in date to confirm they'll have electricity service at their new address. The vast majority of our customers have next-generation meters so they no longer need to submit a meter reading from their new and previous addresses. However, customers with a non-communicating meter must read their meter themselves and submit the results to ensure that the billed consumption is correct.
