The largest annual fundraising campaign to fight poverty in Greater Montreal will kick off on October 1 under the theme "Giving Brightens Lives"
MONTREAL, Sept. 27, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Co-Chairs of Centraide of Greater Montreal's 2013 campaign, Marc Parent, President and Chief Executive Officer of CAE, and Michael E. Roach, President and Chief Executive Officer of CGI, as well as Lili-Anna Pereša, President and Executive Director of Centraide of Greater Montreal, cordially invite the press to Centraide's 22nd annual March of 1,000 Umbrellas through downtown Montreal on October 1.
This event will mark the launch of Centraide's annual fundraising drive to support 369 community agencies. More than 20,000 marchers-donors, volunteers, community workers and people from the business world, public sector and trade unions-will proudly hold up their umbrellas to show their commitment to the less fortunate members of our community.

11:30 a.m. | The marchers assemble on McGill College Avenue (at the corner of St. Catherine Street West). The team from Studio Mydance will warm everyone up for the march. |
11:45 a.m. | Interviews with Lili-Anna Pereša, President and Executive Director of Centraide of Greater Montreal, and other participating personalities (media tent, northwest corner of St. Catherine Street and McGill College Avenue). |
12:00 noon | The march begins: Kumpa'nia will lead the march accompanied by street entertainers and musicians. |
12:20 p.m. | Arrival at the Parterre public square of the Quartier des spectacles (on Clark Street) and announcement of the fundraising goal for Centraide Campaign 2013 (photo opportunities). |
1:00 p.m. | End of the event: Individual interviews. |
PHOTO PLATFORMS: Four raised platforms will be installed for photographers and camera operators wishing to take overhead shots of the march on St. Catherine Street West:
- Two at the starting point of the march, at the southwest corner of McGill College Avenue
- One at the corner of Union Street
- One at the corner of De Bleury Street
