/R E P E A T -- Invitation to the media - Opening of the new Dubrovsky Molecular Pathology Centre of the Jewish General Hospital/ Français
MONTRÉAL, Nov. 20, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Representatives of the Media are invited to the opening of the new Molecular Pathology Centre (MPC) of the Jewish General Hospital. Entirely funded through private donations, notably from the Dubrovsky family, the Banque Nationale, and the Adelis Foundation, the MPC will become one of the major molecular pathology facilities dedicated to cancer in Montreal and one of the three main molecular pathology centres in Canada.
The Dubrovsky Molecular Pathology Centre, integrated into the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital, represents a major step in the development of personalized medicine in Quebec. In addition to the strong international presence of many Jewish General Hospital clinicians and researchers, the new centre will become one of the major referral centres for the molecular pathology of cancer in the world. The Centre will emerge as a leader in molecular pathology testing excellence and in research that will discover and validate new molecular biomarkers and new treatments in the field of cancer.
The opening of the new Centre represents a very important initiative for Quebec in terms of research and the fight against cancer. The Dubrovsky Molecular Pathology Centre will play a central role in the hospital's personalized medicine strategy, an approach which allows for the customization of care to each individual patient. The Centre will allow for the development of targeted therapies that are most likely to be effective in treating each individual patient, as well as support the development of new therapies.
