A resounding success across the board with a record crowd!
SAINT-HYACINTHE, QC, Aug. 12, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - L'Expo de Saint-Hyacinthe, the largest agricultural themed festival in Quebec, took place from July 27th to August 6th and welcomed 201 816 visitors. A resounding success across the board.
The excellent program, novelties, exclusivities, free admission for children aged 5 years and under (rides included) as well as the weather helped the 179th edition to become a great success.
In 2016, l'Expo de Saint-Hyacinthe moved up another step by setting a historic record for one day, that is Saturday July 30th with 27 416 visitors, never seen since 1985. This record was reached thanks to the exclusive presence in Quebec of Chase and Marcus, the official mascots from children's television series Pat' Patrouille, a worldwide phenomenon. This exclusivity was made possible thanks to Spin MasterTM and Télé-Québec (partner of the event for the last 7 years) official broadcaster in Quebec.
L'Expo de St-Hyacinthe is recognized in the industry and with the general public as a leader in entertainment for children as well as activities for the little ones and families. Children's Day titled "Birth and Growth" (a collaboration with The Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation for the past 5 years) offered 5 quality shows that were a delight for thousands of children and their parents. Atchoum, Shilvi, Brimbelle, Arthur l'Aventurier and Annie Brocoli succeeded each other.
In the agricultural arena, the event which has acquired an enviable reputation, gathers annually 2000 farm animals of the highest quality. In 2016 in particular, demonstrations, educational events and an opportunity provided to the public to milk a mechanical cow while discovering technological advances with milking robot Boumatic Robotics MR-S1 and agricultural cinema generated most interest and aroused curiosity of the crowds.
According to the organizing committee, a balance between activities and novelties in both the agricultural sector and the popular entertainment sector proved to be a winning recipe.
L'Expo de Saint-Hyacinthe would like to thank its many partners, especially Desjardins, Lassonde, Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon, Le lait, Pepsi, Coors Light, Rythme FM, Rouge FM, Boom, le Journal de Montréal, Télé-Québec, La Terre de chez Nous and Le Courrier de St-Hyacinthe who contribute directly to the success of the festival every year! We recognize the generous contribution from the government of Quebec through Tourism Quebec program as well as MAPAQ. L'Expo de St-Hyacinthe also recognizes the generosity from the government of Canada thanks to the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program.
The event will make a comeback from July 26th to August 5th 2017.
