Sixth annual National Hiring Day creates thousands of jobs across the country
TORONTO, March 31, 2016 /CNW/ - This Wednesday, April 6th, McDonald's Canada and its franchisees aim to break its previous one-day hiring record during its sixth-annual National Hiring Day event. This year they will rally job seekers from coast-to-coast for 7,000 available positions, the most the quick service restaurant chain has ever hired in one day.
Interested applicants can learn about McDonald's, apply for a role and possibly even get interviewed on the spot for crew, restaurant management, and new hospitality positions the company is serving up.
"At a time of rising unemployment across the country and when youth unemployment is almost double the national average*, McDonald's has a variety of roles to offer whether it's a first job or a new job," said Sharon Ramalho, Chief People Officer for McDonald's Canada. "A job at McDonald's provides our employees with relevant experience, world-class training and skills that set the foundation for future success and careers. Some people call them 'soft skills'. We call them Skills For Life."
McDonald's considers training an essential part of its business and integral to employee growth. In addition to managing their own schedules and working in a high-paced environment, employees learn life skills like teamwork and problem-solving, along with the value of time management, organization, and decision-making.
McDonald's offers world-class training and scholarships for post-secondary education. In addition, the British Columbia Institute of Technology recognizes the quality of McDonald's training for managers and offers credits towards business diplomas and degrees.
Started in 2011, McDonald's Canada was the first quick service restaurant to establish an annual one-day hiring event, and since then, over 28,000 people have joined McDonald's restaurant teams nationwide as part of this initiative.
To apply for a position, people are encouraged to visit their local McDonald's restaurant on April 6th or McDonalds.ca/careers anytime.
