A Foundation on the Rise!

MONTREAL, June 3, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives are invited to attend the 3^rd annual benefit event of the Fondation de l'Office municipal d'habitation de Montréal on Tuesday, June 4 at 5 p.m. under the marquee of the Palais des congrès terrace. Centred on the theme A FOUNDATION ON THE RISE, this evening will allow the Foundation to go one step further toward helping youth living in Montreal social housing to stay in school and get actively involved in society.

Some 400 people are expected for the event, including Patrice Bernier, star player of the Montreal Impact in 2012 and spokesperson for the Foundation. The event will also allow participants to share the upcoming experience of a team of 11 people, including three adolescents from or involved in social housing communities, who will climb the Acotango volcano in Bolivia next September. This campaign will help raise funds for the organizations supported by the Foundation.

The Fondation de L'Office municipal d'habitation de Montréal (OMHM) strives to encourage the some 12,000 young people living in Montreal social housing to stay in school and get actively involved in Montreal and Quebec society. Since its beginnings in 2011, the OMHM Foundation has donated over $110, 000 to the three main organizations it supports working with social housing youth in Ahuntsic, Little Burgundy and Rivière-des-Prairies.
