MONTRÉAL, Aug. 17, 2017 /CNW/ - Sherry Romanado, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, and Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montréal will join Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces personnel, Royal Canadian Mounted Police members, Indigenous representatives, youth and other special guests at the Dieppe Park (formerly known as the « parc de la Cité-du-Havre »), in Montreal to mark the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid.
We shall never forget the bravery and sacrifice witnessed during the Dieppe Raid. The Montréal commemorative event that will take place at the Dieppe Park in the City of Montréal is an opportunity to honour and remember those who saw action in what was the single bloodiest day for Canadians in the Second World War.
The commemorative ceremony on August 19 will include an artillery salute, the performing of the Last Post followed by two minutes of silence, and an account of the Dieppe Raid by historian Béatrice Richard. The ceremony will conclude with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
