/R E P E A T -- MEDIA ADVISORY - An Artists' Affair: Inspired by Glenn Gould/

and Artists' Health Alliance
TORONTO, May 25, 2015 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, May 27, 2015 the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation (TGWHF) will present the 6th annual An Artists' Affair: Inspired by Glenn Gould in support of the Al and Malka Green Artists' Health Centre at Toronto Western Hospital (UHN) and the Artists' Health Alliance. The fundraising gala will take place at The Carlu.
The Al and Malka Green Artists' Health Centre, founded in 2002, specializes in treating both creative and performing artists; their mandate includes research, education and outreach to the artistic community. Proceeds will support the Joysanne Sidimus Subsidy Fund at the Al and Malka Green Artists' Health Centre. This fund provides subsidies for eligible professional artists' of limited means to be applied towards the cost of treatments.
The Artists' Health Alliance, founded in 1997, manages the Joysanne Sidimus Subsidy Fund and continues to be the only organization in Ontario whose mission is to promote the health and wellbeing of all professional and emerging performing and creative artists'.
The event takes its inspiration from Glenn Gould one Canada's most prolific and acclaimed musical artists of the 20th-century. "To some he was a genius, to others he was a hypochondriac; but the records show that he had real medical issues. Had there been a facility like the Al and Malka Green Artists' Health Centre, many of Gould's ailments could have been successfully treated," said Stephen Posen, Sole Executor of the Glenn Gould Estate.
The evening will be emceed by Heather Bambrick, singer, comedian, performer and twice winner of the National Jazz Awards' "Broadcaster of the Year" and current host of JAZZ.FM91's 'Jazzology' and 'Breakfast Blend'.
The program will include performances by:
Marc Jordan
RH Thomson, C.M.
