/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Assembly of First Nations to Participate in 2nd National Roundtable on MMIWG/ Français
OTTAWA, Feb. 24, 2016 /CNW/ - Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Perry Bellegarde, together with families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, AFN Regional Chief Shane Gottfriedson and AFN Women's Council Chair Therese Villeneuve will participate in the second National Roundtable on missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls taking place in Winnipeg this week.
The event, hosted by Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger, will gather Indigenous families and leaders, Premiers, provincial and federal ministers for focused discussion on action to prevent and address violence against Indigenous women and girls. This is the second meeting of its kind – the first taking place in Ottawa in February 2015. It will also include an update by federal ministers responsible for the National Inquiry on missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
