TORONTO, May 30, 2014 /CNW/ - On Friday, June 6th the Canadian Dermatology Association host a free skin cancer screening clinic to educate the public on the importance of early detection and prevention for all skin cancers. Participants will also learn how to conduct at-home skin cancer self-examinations.

Background:
- This year it is estimated that 6,500 Canadians will be diagnosed with melanoma, and 1,050 will die of it.
- One person dies every day in Ontario from melanoma skin cancer
- 8 people a day are diagnosed with this potentially deadly form of skin cancer.
- It is estimated there will be 3,100 new cases of melanoma diagnosed in Ontario this year, resulting in 480 deaths.
