/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - CCAC workers in Niagara-Norfolk to stage information picket Jan. 24/
ST. CATHARINES, ON, Jan. 23, 2015 /CNW/ - Frustrated by an employer unwilling to negotiate a fair first contract, Community Care Access workers in Haldiman and Norfolk counties, have planned an information picket outside CCAC offices in St. Catharines on Saturday Jan. 24.
The workers, who are employed by Care Partners, a for-profit community home care agency, voted overwhelmingly to join the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) more than 18 months ago. But since then management has steadfastly balked at negotiating a first contract.
In December, the employees gave their bargaining team a 94 per cent strike mandate if a first contract cannot be negotiated.
Care Partners delivers nursing services in the affected communities, including oncology, dialysis, pediatric, wound and diabetic care.
