MONTREAL, April 5, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Following the sudden announcement in January to close the Villa Maria music school, parents, students and school staff have joined forces in an attempt to reverse the administration's senseless decision, made without any consultation and on questionable grounds.
After launching an online petition that now has over 1,700 signatures and publishing in the major dailies an open letter signed by celebrated musicians including Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Metropolitan Orchestre, Nathalie Choquette, Oliver Jones and Michel Rivard, the SOS Villa Maria collective will take to the streets of NDG. Led by students, alumni, parents, teachers and many supporters of the movement to save Villa Maria's music school, the demonstrators will march to Girouard Park, where participants will be able to enjoy a festive, musical show.
