MONTREAL, Dec. 15, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - On Wednesday, dozens of community and educational leaders will take a stand against Bill 86 which would make sweeping changes to Quebec's Education Act that infringe upon our community's constitutional right to control and manage our schools.

The press conference is being organized by English Parents' Committee Association (EPCA), the Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN), the Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA), and the Quebec Federation of Home and Schools Association (QFHSA) who have been working to ensure that our constitutional minority community language rights are protected as the provincial government moves ahead with plans to reform Quebec's education system.
On hand for the press conference will be a number of community leaders including former Commissioner of Official Languages Dr. Victor Goldbloom and former MP Marlene Jennings, who recently chaired the Elections Systems Study Panel which consulted the community at large and came up with 13 recommendations which aim to protect the constitutional rights of English-speaking Quebecers and the integrity of our educational institutions which are key to the vitality of our communities.
