TORONTO, June 20, 2013 /CNW/ - The Conference Board of Canada will report on the economic impact of the skills mismatch in Ontario during a symposium on Friday, June 21, at the Sheraton Centre hotel in Toronto.

Featured speakers at the Closing the Skills Gap symposium include Training, Colleges and Universities Minister Brad Duguid. There will also be a presentation by Conference Board of Canada vice-president Michael Bloom on the findings of the board's new report, The Cost of Ontario's Skills Gap.

Other prominent speakers at the symposium include Benjamin Tal, deputy chief economist at CIBC World Markets Inc.; Glenn Nolan, the president of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada; and Michael Skolnik, professor emeritus at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.

Participants at the symposium will include leaders from industry, government and education to discuss the skills mismatch challenge and recommendations to address the issue. The symposium, which is being organized by Colleges Ontario, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, and Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Willow Room at the Sheraton hotel in Toronto.
