OTTAWA and GATINEAU, QC, Jan. 12, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) will hold a public hearing in Gatineau, Quebec from Monday, January 16, to Friday January 20, 2017.
At this hearing, the CRTC will examine establishment of a regulatory framework for next-generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) in Canada.
While the broader context pertaining to NG9-1-1 in Canada will be examined during the proceeding (including the roles of stakeholders, such as provincial, territorial, and municipal governments), the CRTC's determinations will necessarily be limited to issues that fall within our jurisdiction under the Telecommunications Act. These include the roles and responsibilities of telecommunications service providers, the evolution of existing 9-1-1 networks, and the means by which NG9-1-1 services and network functionality will be funded and implemented.
If you plan on attending the hearing or would like more information about it, please contact Media Relations at 819-997-9403 or by email at [email protected].
A live audio feed of the hearing will be available on the CRTC website at www.crtc.gc.ca.
