Eight out of ten cases of breast cancer occur in women aged 50 and above.
Women between the ages of 50 and 69 are invited to get a free mammogram screening every two years. However, of a million women eligible for the Quebec Breast Cancer Screening Program (PQDCS), 400,000 do not get a mammogram.
MONTREAL, Nov. 22, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Mammography is the only proven screening tool: the breast cancer mortality rate has fallen by 40% over the past 25 years and it's partly because of the early detection of the disease.
