/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Government of Canada to mark 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic and centennials of the Second Battle of Ypres and In Flanders Fields/

OTTAWA, May 1, 2015 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada will host two commemorative events to mark significant World War anniversaries.

The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) will mark the 70^th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic with a ceremony and military parade at the National War Memorial.

Location:	National War Memorial, Ottawa
Date:	Sunday, May 3, 2015
Time:	Ceremonial activities begin at 10:10 a.m. EDT. Media are requested to arrive at 9:30 a.m. EDT for set up.

In the afternoon, a statue of Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae will be unveiled on Green Island, in Ottawa, marking the 100^th anniversaries of the Second Battle of Ypres and the writing of In Flanders Fields.
