Quebec Network for Research on Aging - Annual Research Days
MONTREAL, Sept. 27, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Network for Research on Aging's (QNRA) 10th annual Research Days will be held in Montreal on October 1 and 2. Several topics will be discussed by Network researchers, students and internationally-renowned aging researchers such as the future of research on aging, drug use and mental health.
In Quebec, 15.7% of the population is 65 years old or more, and by 2056 this proportion is expected to reach 28%. Moreover, Quebec could have 19,000 100-year olds by 2056, compared to 1,000 in 2006. This health challenge should be seen as a unique opportunity to come up with new evidence-based actions and ways of doing things. It is of the utmost importance to advance research in several fields that can contribute to health aging.
This event coincides with International Day of Older Persons. Its goal is to review the state of the art of knowledge about aging and to foster exchanges among students, researchers, health professionals and clinicians.
