/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - IBC announces Stratford Rain Barrel Study results/
STRATFORD, PEI, Sept. 14, 2015 /CNW/ - The frequency and severity of extreme weather events are increasing in Prince Edward Island (P.E.I) and across the country. Severe weather events bring with them heavy rains that can overburden municipalities' sewer and stormwater infrastructure, resulting in more water damage for homes and businesses.
Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is committed to helping communities address increasing water damage, and The Town of Stratford, a growing community of approximately 9,000, is committed to sustainability and climate change adaption through its Official Plan. That's why the two organizations joined forces three years ago to investigate whether the large-scale use of rain barrels by local residents could relieve stress on the town's storm and waste water systems.
The Town of Stratford and IBC kicked off this partnership by giving away close to 1,000 rain barrels to Stratford families. You are invited to join the Town of Stratford and IBC as we release the results of this study.
