TORONTO, April 26, 2012 /CNW/ - After opening last April in a fully restored and renovated heritage building, ING DIRECT's flagship Café in downtown Toronto is celebrating One Year on Yonge Street.
The three-floor, open-concept retail space demonstrates ING DIRECT's forward banking vision by providing an innovative approach to banking and educating Canadians about money.
Truly the first of its kind in Toronto, the ING DIRECT Café features free WiFi; Network Orange, a high-tech coworking space that provides access to videoconferencing and webinar systems; a large, free meeting space for community groups; use of iPads to conduct banking transactions online; and several environmentally friendly and sustainable design elements, including two vertical gardens.
Over the past year, the Café has become an integral part of the Toronto community.
Highlights:
- Over 161,000 people have visited the Café since opening in April 2011
- 366 community events have been hosted in the Café's free community meeting space
- 12 local retailers have been showcased as part of the Café's Friends of Savers program
- Nearly $65,000 from the sale of coffee, baked goods and Friends of Savers products has been donated to charities, including Recipe for Community in St. James Town, the Women's Project and the Canadian Red Cross
