/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Métis youth starting 2200 km canoe trek in Ottawa/
OTTAWA, May 19, 2017 /CNW/ - Twelve young Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) ambassadors from across the province will set out from Britannia Park and Beach in Ottawa on Tuesday, May 23 on a 2200 km canoe trek to Kenora. In this adventure of a lifetime, the young voyageurs will develop through experiential learning leadership and employability skills that will help them build their future careers. Dressed in historic Métis clothing from the fur trade era, during their lengthy trip which is expected to last 100 days, these modern voyageurs will be visiting Métis communities throughout Ontario where they will promote Métis culture and heritage.
The 2017 MNO Canoe Expedition will start at in Ottawa on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. The voyageurs will be given a big send off by MNO citizens and dignitaries.
