/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Minister Brison to meet with the next generation of female coding enthusiasts at the Hackergal Hackathon/ Français
OTTAWA, Dec. 12, 2017 /CNW/ - The President of the Treasury Board, the Honourable Scott Brison, will visit local students participating in Hackergal's Canada-wide hackathon taking place on December 13, 2017. Minister Brison will speak to a group of approximately 90 hackathon participants – all girls from grades 6 to 8 – to highlight the power of coding and to offer encouragement and support to this future generation of innovators.
Hackergal is a not-for-profit organization that introduces young girls across Canada to coding through the experience of a hackathon. With women vastly underrepresented in the tech industry all over the world, it strives to inspire a new wave of Canadian female coders to bring equality to the booming industry.
Close to 3,000 girls from 90 schools across four provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Nova Scotia) are participating in the event, including 17 schools in the National Capital Region.
For more details on where and when Minister Brison will be attending the hackathon, please contact Jean-Luc Ferland, Press Secretary, Office of the President of the Treasury Board.
