MONTRÉAL, July 12, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives are invited to visit one of the country's most important archaeological sites, which Pointe-à-Callière is making accessible on the occasion of Montréal's 375th anniversary: the site of the first Canadian parliament—as Montréal was the capital of the United Province of Canada from 1843 to 1849—, the remains of which are still buried in Old Montréal.
From a single location, you will be able to assess the historical significance of the archaeological site, explore an outdoor exhibition, watch archaeologists in action, and take part in informative guided tours. This site lies along the route of the urban Promenade Fleuve-Montagne.
The visit will take place in the presence of Francine Lelièvre, Executive Director of Pointe-à-Callière and of Louise Pothier, Conservator and Archaeologist in Chief at Pointe-à-Callière.
