celebrating Montréal's fashion industry/
Media representatives are invited to the official opening of the exhibition Montréal and Fashion: So Many Years, So Much to Show a celebration and retrospective of the Montréal fashion industry and its artisans from the 1850s to the present day on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lounge "Salon Rouge" of the Galerie Place Ville Marie (entrance at the corner of Cathcart and University).
MONTREAL, June 14 /CNW Telbec/ - On this occasion, will be gathered key players from the fashion industry, including a few of Quebec's top fashion designers, such as Marie Saint Pierre, Jean-Claude Poitras, Yves Jean Lacasse, Michel Desjardins and Michel Vaudrin, and the guest of honor for this special event, Jacques De Montjoye, founder of the first Canadian Association of Couturiers in 1954. Also in attendance will be the spokesperson for Clin D'œil, Geneviève Borne, and former model Elaine Bédard, the muse for Jacques De Montjoye in the 50's and 60's.
The exhibition, presented June 10 through to October 29, 2010, chronicles the development of the fashion industry through the rich history of Montréal's garment manufacturers, retailers and designers, as well as its educational institutions, models, photographers and more! Vintage collections, photos, videos and artifacts will bring to life the Québec fashion scene through the decades, to the delight of shoppers, passersby and the approximately 10,000 people who work in the Place Ville Marie complex.
Cameramen and photographers are welcome, guided tours will be offered between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Photos from the exhibition are also available. Food and cocktails will be served.
