SARNIA, ON, May 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN will meet with front-line nurses from Sarnia tomorrow at a late Nursing Week 2012 celebration.
Haslam-Stroud will attend a special ONA Local 19 dinner and comedy night at the Hiawatha Race Track from 6:00 to 10 pm. She will be available for media interviews.
Nursing Week is held each year to coincide with the birthday of nurse Florence Nightingale. ONA has chosen the theme "Value the Invaluable" for Nursing Week 2012, and Haslam-Stroud will be reminding members and the public to recognize that dollar for dollar, nurses are the best value in health care today. Nurses are under more pressure than ever as austerity measures squeeze health care budgets.
ONA is the union representing 59,000 front-line RNs and allied health professionals and more than 13,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, industry and clinics.
