TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Ontario students will hold a press conference to outline their demands before participating in a government consultation on the future of Ontario colleges and universities. The consultation follows a discussion paper on sweeping changes to the post-secondary education system that the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities released in June.
WHAT: Press Conference on Students' Demands
LOCATION: Queen's Park Media Studio
DATE AND TIME: September 14, 2012 at 9:30 AM
WHO: Sarah Jayne King, Chairperson, Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario, and student representatives from Ontario campuses.
Over the summer, the Ministry held a series of consultations across the province, but rank and file students and campus student representatives were not invited. The government's proposals have been widely opposed by students, staff and faculty in Ontario.
The Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario unites more than 300,000 college and university undergraduate and graduate students in all regions of the province.
